Monitoring the weather right now and it does not look promising. Will update tomorrow morning. Also we should be available via phone.
Update: We will be at the track. As a reminder, the policy for the track is that if the surface is wet and it does not look like conditions will permit it to dry, the session will be cancelled. If there is any doubt, contact us before you leave your home to come to the track.
Recap: We had a good session. The rain which hit much of the area spared Hellyer until about 4:30 and then gradually made the track too wet to ride. It was windy the whole time, but not a big problem, and we got in plenty of riding.
We had another small but good track session on Sunday under threatening skies. Only a few drops of rain fell. Here is a shot of some of the riders with the banner of our snack sponsor, Clif Bar.

Andrew, Daniel, and David.
How was the weather at your track today? Probably great if you are in Australia, but in the northern hemisphere a lot of track riders are already seeing a lot of the road and indoor trainers. So far, San Jose has been very lucky. Temperatures around 72F (22C) contributed to another beautiful day at Hellyer Park Velodrome.

Riders Enjoy a Sunday Afternoon at the Track
We had a group of six fairly closely-matched riders today, and worked them pretty hard. Three of them beat their personal best flying 200m times.
We were looking for a way to get some goodies for the riders in our 10-14 age group sessions, and Steven Woo had the idea of asking Clif Bar. They have come through with a large number of mini bars and a banner. Starting in mid December we’ll be able to offer the bars as snacks at every session, and of course we’ll display the banner during each session. Thanks, Clif Bar!

Just a note for those not on the mailing list: due to conflicts there will be no sessions this month for the usual age 10-14 group.
For the 4th of September we thought attendance would be low due to the Grand Prix in San Francisco, and so I’ll be watching the race (sorry to those who said they would have ridden this time).
On the 18th the velodrome scheduled the WCCC Track Championships on top of our time slot. The WCCC comprises about 15 universities in California and Nevada, so maybe some of you will be racing in this event in a few years.
In October we plan to get back to the usual “first and third Sunday” pattern, from 2 to 5 p.m..
