Friday night, 6/27/08 was the Valley Preferred Cycling Center’s 2nd race of the World Series of Cycling: U.S. Open Omnium. The Junior’s were riding strong, especially in the Women’s races. Team Budget Forklifts from Australia are spending several weeks in the Trexlertown area with various host families and are not only enjoying the Velodrome, but the attractions that can be found in Eastern Pennsylvania as well.

There are some new times in the database from national championships in these two countries. Thanks to
Stephanie McKenzie for reminding me how far behind I was on these updates.
If you know of other results I should include, especially national or international events, please leave a comment with a link to the results. I’ll make an effort to get up to date before we get too close to this year’s USA nationals and junior worlds.
Saturday May 31 was opening day at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (a.k.a. The Lehigh Valley Velodrome) in Trexlertown, PA. There were no big names there and there were no crowds. As a matter of fact, the race itself was almost postponed due to rain and a tornado watch. As luck would have it, the rain passed and the breeze picked up just enough to dry the track. There has been delay after delay at the Cycling Center due to problems with resurfacing. Everything has been worked out, the job is done, and riders report the newly resurfaced track is “like riding on glass.” Presumably, there will definitely be some records broken here this season.
